.: Project- Antioch Burrowing Owls :.
July 23rd
I had intended to keep a snippet of details regarding the plight of the Antioch owls in this section, but as the battle heated up early in the year I lost track of posting new details. This was especially true since I was trying to keep a valid "owl count" from prying eyes; owls returned to only be evicted again. Well, as of July the burrowing owl and ground squirrel population has remained at a disheartening zero.
Although things are bleak for "my" owls, I am happy to say that my burrowing owl conservation activities have moved to the next level within the city, county, state and nation because there are more colonies that are in dire need of assistance.
With that said, keep an eye on Journowl.com and head on over to a new organization that is dedicated to turning a declining population into a thriving population.

Great video Scott. It scares the heck out of me though. I still have hope that we can do something this week to stop this insanity, before it’s too late. I’ve got several emails out and I think sharing this video will help.
Larry Jordan´s last blog ..Yellow-billed Magpie Is Audubon California’s 2009 Bird of the Year
Thanks Larry, I wanted to send out a visual note to make a point…hope it works.

That is absolutely crappy that they are being evicted..cant you do a real life rendition similar to the movie hoot? Put something in paper…relating to the movie..get a group together to protest??? this sucks..
Dawn Fine´s last blog ..Hiking in Calico Basin
No worries Dawn but thanks for checking in and tweeting. A group of us have been in contact with eachother and sending emails, press releases, etc. this weekend. Hopefully our coordinated efforts will pay off and yield one Hoot of an ending.
Well done, Scott! A great piece of work for a more than worthy cause. Now, the challenge seems to be getting in front of enough people to make a difference. I hope your efforts pay off… (Sorry if this comment goes through twice.)
Thanks Jason. There seems to be quite a bit of attention brewing and I’ve been contacted by a major newspaper. Ultimately my goal is the bigger picture here in Antioch to ensure the owls have habitat now and in the future.
Great video Scott! I hope it reaches the right people to stop this madness. That totally sucks!
